University of Arts Târgu-Mureș is a multicultural and multilingual institution that trains future actors, directors, choreographers, dramaturgs, playwrights, and media creators in both Romanian and Hungarian.

Târgu-Mureș is a multicultural and multilingual city where Romanian and Hungarian language and culture have shaped everyday life for generations. This diversity is visible in the city’s cultural institutions, theatres, festivals, and public life.
Târgu-Mureș is one of the important cultural and educational centres of Transylvania. The city has been a centre of education and culture since the 16th century and has played an important role in the region’s intellectual and artistic life.
The city’s cultural heritage can be discovered through places such as the Teleki-Bolyai Library (Teleki Téka), one of the oldest public libraries in Transylvania, as well as the Palace of Culture and the medieval fortress.
Târgu-Mureș offers a vibrant cultural life. Many performances at National Theatre of the city and Studio Theatre are presented with English surtitles, making them accessible to international audiences. During the autumn semester, students can also attend several cultural events, including the STUDIO International Theatre Festival – Meeting of Theatre Schools, hosted by the University of Arts every November, and the ALTER-NATIVE International Short Film Festival, one of the leading short film festivals in Central and Eastern Europe.
Târgu-Mureș is a safe, student-friendly city with an affordable cost of living and a beautiful city centre that is easy to explore on foot, with public transport available throughout the city making it easy for international students to settle in and move around.
Practical Information
The main university campus is located at Köteles Sámuel Street 6., in the heart of Târgu-Mureș. It includes the Studio Theatre, course rooms, rehearsal spaces, library, and administrative offices. Studio 2.1, the university's puppet theatre studio, is located on Frunzei Street 9., just a short walk from the main campus.
An additional library with a collection of international books is available at Bolyai Street 15. Studium HUB, just a two-minute walk from the campus. Studium HUB also provides additional course rooms and learning spaces used for courses, seminars, and workshops.
In Romania, the academic year typically begins at the beginning of October, while international students are expected to arrive on 1 September. They receive detailed information and guidance regarding arrival, enrolment, and the academic calendar from the University's International Relations Office prior to the start of their mobility.

The University of Arts Târgu-Mureș offers accommodation in its student residence, subject to availability. Rooms are shared (typically 3–4 students per room).
Students who prefer private accommodation can also find apartments or shared flats in the city.
For private accommodation, the University can facilitate contact with a local real estate agency, which assists international students in finding suitable studio apartments or one- and two-bedroom flats according to their preferences and budget.
